The 2014 Chevy Stingray Roars Down the Strip

2014 Chevrolet Corvette StingrayWhile the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray was recently revealed at the Detroit Auto Show, they left out one very important piece of information: the power. While people gravitate toward muscle cars for a variety of reasons, I don’t know an auto enthusiast that gets excited for Corvettes and isn’t also clamoring to know just how many horses the next model of their favorite vehicle is capable of.

Are you ready for the answer? For one reason or another, we didn’t have final power ratings for the V8 that purrs – okay, roars – beneath the hood of the latest Stingray, but the numbers have been officially released.

Final Power Ratings Arrive

Drivers who leave Cox Chevrolet behind the wheel of a 2014 Stingray can put the pedal to the floor and max out at 455 hp, leaping off the line with 460 lb-ft of torque, giving it a 0-60 mph time of under four seconds. Let’s just pause on those numbers for a little bit. Not only are they impressive on their own, but the engine stats for this new Corvette are greater than initial estimates while also beating out the old model by 25 hp and 36 lb-ft of torque.

Although it will be a little while before this hotrod is available at our dealership, drivers will have the choice of a six-speed automatic or a seven-speed manual transmission that’s paired with the LT1 V-8 engine. If you’d prefer the wind in your hair, you can opt for the convertible model over the coupe, with pricing starting at just $51,995 (MSRP).

Vehicle Amenities

There’s more than power behind this iconic car, however. While you can surely expect fine traditional amenities such as genuine Napa leather, some of the latest in technology also lives in the cabin, including a Corvette-specific version of the Chevy MyLink that includes controls angled directly at the driver for convenience.
