Before You Polish
Before you polish your car’s exterior, make sure to complete the following:
- Park your vehicle in a shady area and wash it before beginning to polish.
- Keep children and pets inside and move anything you don’t want to get dirty.
- Rinse your entire car with a hose to prepare it.
- Clean the wheels and tires beforehand.
Polishing Your Car
Now it’s time to polish your car’s exterior. Follow these steps:
- Get the pad for the polishing wheel wet with clean water. It needs to remain damp throughout the process.
- Apply a moderate amount of polishing compound on the pad, and then press the pad into the paint of the vehicle with the polishing wheel turned on.
- Move the wheel back and forth with steady pressure to reduce chances of damaging your paint.
- Once the paint is shiny, you can move on to the next body panel. Do not continue to polish shiny paint. Throughout the process, rinse the compound off and keep the pad damp.
Finishing Touches
To wrap up the car polishing process, consider the following:
- Wash and rinse the car again to remove any polishing compound that remains on the vehicle.
- Allow the car to dry before you move on to waxing.
- Proceed to apply a coat of wax to the car’s paint for a bright, shiny vanish. Once dry, buff the wax off with microfiber towels.
