The Chevrolet Camaro Has a Starring Role in the New Transformers: Age of Extinction Movie

The new Transformers: Age of Extinchtion movie hit theaters on June 27, and it delivers the same high-octane thrills that viewers have come to expect from the franchise. It also features a ton of cool cars, including a custom Transformers Chevy Camaro. The Camaro has been a memorable feature of the Transformers movies from the start, and it has always been tough to say which was more impressive, the car, or Bumblebee, the heroic robot that it turns into.

The Transformers Camaro

The Camaro made its first appearance in the original Transformers movie. It started out as a rusty pile of junk, but morphs into a fifth generation Camaro by the end. That was the first time many viewers got a peek at the new look for the upcoming Camaro, and it created a lot of buzz. Chevy has continued that tradition by rolling out new Camaro concepts for each successive Transformers film.

For the most recent Transformers, a custom Camaro was built with a restyled front fascia and bulkier sides. It’s an awesome looking car to say the least, and its not hard to believe that its turns into a robot. The Camaro is joined by several other members of the Chevy family including a Chevy Corvette Stingray that turns into the character Crosshairs and a Chevy Sonic rally car. In fact, the link between this popular film franchise and Chevy is so deep that large portions of the newest film were shot at GM’s development facility outside Detroit.

The Camaro you see in the film will not be available for sale because it’s design is totally unique to the film, but it is not that different from the current 2014 Chevy Camaro model. Both of them feature iconic looks that blend speed and strength, an engine that can burn through some serious tire rubber, and an interior that is fit for a VIP. The real Camaro may not be able to turn into a robot and fight off monsters from space, but it can still do quite a bit.
