What Changes Can You Expect?

We have some confirmed 2017 Chevy Silverado 2500HD changes as well as some that we expect to occur by the time the new model arrives in our showroom:

• Hood Scoop: A heavy-duty truck needs to breathe, and Chevrolet has confirmed that a new air intake system will feature a hood scoop to bring more air to the engine.
• Powertrain Updates: While these have yet to be confirmed, we’ve heard talk of a revised or new Duramax V8 turbodiesel paired with a new or improved Allison transmission. Considering the truck already has a towing capacity of 18,000 pounds, we’re eager to learn more here.
• Improved Power: Whether the engine is upgraded or not, the ram-air induction design of the hood scoop will have the ability to force more air into the engine and allow it to perform better than it would without the hood scoop design.

When Will it Release and How Much Will it Cost?

While we’re still waiting for news on the 2017 Chevy Silverado 2500HD release date and pricing information, we expect the following:

• Street Date: We could see the new Silverado 2500HD by the end of summer and expect it to be available by the end of the year at the latest.
• Pricing: With the current truck priced at $32,280 (MSRP), we don’t expect the 2017 model to change too much. Expect a price firmly planted between $30,000 and $35,000.
