There’s much to love about the 2014 Chevy Camaro, no matter which version you find yourself driving home, but there are two popular performance-tuned models that have received some extra attention. We thought we would clear up any confusion for you .

The ZL1

Equipped similarly to the top-of-the-line Camaro 2SS, the Camaro ZL1 is a special edition model that adds on upgrades such as Brembo brakes, magnetic suspension dampers, and a supercharged V8 engine, all atop unique 20-inch wheels. The engine is where most of the attention is going right now with the ZL1’s V8 capable of upwards of 580 hp and 556 lb-ft of torque, paired with a six-speed manual transmission for extra control.

The ZL1 includes features that compliment both its style and performance, such as a carbon-fiber air extractor on the hood, unique fascias on the front and rear, and a unique spoiler design. Suede upholstery and a flat-bottomed steering wheel give the interior a unique feel to match its design.

The Z/28

While the ZL1 is impressive, the Chevy Camaro Z/28 brings something a little different to the table. Its 7.0L V8 brings in 500 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque, but in exchange for the drop in power, drivers get a traditional engine design they may be more comfortable with and a vehicle that is sport-tuned and ready for the track, built with improved handling to match the improved power.

Put simply, the ZL1 is a great car if you are looking for one of the most powerful sports cars on the streets, but the Z/28 sacrifices a little power to give the handling and cornering abilities many drivers desire.
