Introducing the 2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray

February 22nd, 2013 by

With a signature career of 60 years on the market, the Chevy Corvette is still making waves with the 2014 Stingray, and here at Cox Chevrolet in Bradenton we can’t wait to show off this latest model. The seventh-generation sports car has gone through a total redesign that is readily apparent in the body design alone, with aluminum replacing its steel and lightweight carbon-nano composite structuring the underbody for a light, but stiff frame. This new body improves speed, torsional rigidity, and provides an overall enhancement to the vehicle’s performance. Having gone through such a transformation, the 2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray has a sleek new look that matches the phenomenal performance under the hood and the opulent interior.

A Space-Age Exterior

Rather than using plastic body panels and steel, the new Stingray has been engineered with precision, using an aluminum space frame and carbon fiber. Functional exterior vents allow for a revolutionary new breathing experience that minimizes the Stingray’s drag and reduces lift, and a functional hood extractor improves airflow with precisely angled blades. Factor in the reduced front-end lift and increased downforce, and this automobile handles incredibly well at high speeds.

The redesigned headlamps utilize Bi Xenon HID technology to achieve high and low beam intensity using one bulb, and their style evokes a more sinister look using a sharp, angular shape. The frosted, indirect, high-intensity discharge headlamps themselves give off an efficient, crisp color without sacrificing brightness.

Under the Hood

The 2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray is powered by an LT1 6.2L V-8 engine with a 7-speed manual transmission featuring rev match, producing 450 hp and an acceleration of 0 to 60 mph in under 4 seconds. With a sensor that detects engine-operating conditions, the powertrain can provide increased power or torque when it’s needed while enhancing fuel economy using the Active Fuel Management feature. The transmission uses intelligent sensors to anticipate gear selections and matches engine speed in order to achieve smoother upshifts and downshifts.

An Interior Defined by Luxury

Using Napa Leather, the Stingray’s Grand Touring standard seats will support the driver and passenger with an unprecedented level of comfort, and the magnesium frame will keep everyone firmly in position. The instrument panel uses an 8-inch diagonal screen with gauges that can be reconfigured along with real-time performance data and multiple display modes. As if all of that wasn’t enough, the 2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray does itself one better with a tablet-inspired center console touch-screen media interface.
