GM Set to Unveil the 2014 Camaro at the New York Auto Show

The nation’s most popular sports car under $50,000, the Chevy Camaro, just got a facelift. Spotlighting advances in technology and performance, GM recently announced its inclusion in the 2013 New York Auto Show. While we’ll have to wait till the show for all the official details, at Cox Chevrolet in Bradenton, FL, we do have some ideas as to what could be improved on this year’s model.

Possible Upgrades

Since we’re talking about Chevy here, we expect to see improvement in terms of horsepower and fuel economy to the 2014 Chevy Camaro. Also, considering drivers these days are clamoring for more space both in the trunk and back seat of small cars, there’s a good chance the Camaro will step up to meet the demand. Finally, the different trim models will add more high-tech capabilities, as is often the case each year, but our guess to which specific features is as good as anybody’s at this point.

The 2014 Camaro ZL1, geared for ultra performance, is the most expensive model available, with the 2013 MSRP starting at $54,350. We think the new ZL1 will be able to top 20 mpg on the highway, and possibly push the envelope to an incredible 600 hp. The 6.2 L engine of the 2013 model might have to get a little bigger to accomplish both of these tasks, and the body weight might need to be lightened, but either way, it’s sure to be an impressive car.

Chevy’s New Performance Car Lineup

In addition to the 2014 Camaro, the 2014 Corvette Stingray will be shown in both the coupe and convertible designs, and the SS performance sedan will be making an appearance as well. The Corvette convertible was already shown at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, but this is the first time it’ll be shown in the United States.

Once we get the stats of all the new performance cars that Chevy is bringing out, we’ll be able to take a closer look at the performance numbers and the new high-tech features lists.
