A Five-Star Safety Rating for the 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500
When GM engineers went to redesign the iconic Chevy Silverado pickup, one of the most popular trucks around Bradenton and Tampa, they decided to challenge some long-held pick-up stigmas. First off, American made pickups seem to have had a problem in the past with safety tests.
Thanks to Chevy’s tough work, the 2014 Silverado, as well as its GMC counterpart, the Sierra, were able to nab a five-star overall crash test rating from the NHTSA, helping to further cement Chevy’s spot at the head of the truck class. No other pickup truck has received this ranking from the government since they debuted their new testing system a few years ago.
The 2014 Silverado is Tough as Well as Smart
Part of staying safe is avoiding accidents altogether. Sure, the Silverado is designed with a tough body and a complete set of airbags, but it is also equipped with a full suite of active safety features.
These include:
- Forward collision alerts, helping to inform the driver if an object comes to close to the front of the vehicle and a collision is imminent
- A rearview camera, which can make backing up and parking much easier and safer
- Trailer-sway control with StabiliTrak vehicle stability control, helping you to counteract unwanted trailer movement.
