Drive a Fuel Efficient Pickup: Drive a Silverado
The laws of physics tell us that we can’t ever get more energy out of a pickup’s engine than we put into it, but the fact is that we have a long way to go before we come close to breaking even. Automakers like Ford think people expect a gas guzzler when they get behind the wheel of a V8 pickup, but Chevy engineers have been hard at work for years, working on improving the efficiency of pickup engines.
The result: starting with 2014 models, you can drive a truck with a V8 that gets an EPA-estimated 23 highway mpg. But wait…that’s not all! There is also the promise of an improved towing power, making the new Chevy Silverado better than the competition at towing too.
Chevy Offers More Power and More Efficiency
Although Ford’s EcoBoost line of engines sounds like they should be more efficient and thus more economically and environmentally friendly, their hyped V6 series of engines are a step down from the new Chevy V8.
We don’t know what else we can expect on next year’s Silverado yet, but you can rest assured that with a powertrain such as this one, it will make for a great addition to your garage or your company’s fleet of vehicles.
Not only did Chevy drop something new under the hood, but the exterior design of the Silverado has been revamped as well. A more aggressive and aerodynamic design, 2014 models are likely to be fan favorites for years. So don’t settle for less; get the power and efficiency you need from an automaker you can trust, and look great doing it.
