Critics Praise New Chevy Cruze Diesel for its Biodiesel Capabilities
There’s already plenty to be excited about with the standard Chevy Cruze, now available here at Cox Chevy in Bradenton. Its sleek design and $14,995 base MSRP are paired with a spacious interior and a generous range of standard high-tech features including steering wheel operated audio and cruise controls, Bluetooth, MP3 audio input, satellite radio, and much more. So when we found out that Chevy was upping the available trims with state-of-the-art biodiesel compatibility, we had to find out more. Luckily for you, we did!
Biodiesel’s Superiority
After the unveiling of the 2013 Chevy Cruze with advanced biodiesel compatibility, the National Biodiesel Board praised Chevrolet for offering a new model that will be capable of burning B20 blended biodiesel fuel. The advanced technology that allows these engines to run on biodisel produces a much lower level of sulfur, so the gas emitted by these engines is at least as clean or cleaner than gasoline and natural gas engines. This technology also manages to put it all together with a package that includes superior fuel economy, superior power, and superior reliability to vehicles that run on gasoline and natural gas engines.
By the numbers
As for the kinds of fuel efficiency and power we’re going to get from the 2013 Chevy Cruze Biodiesel Edition, the official numbers have yet to be announced. However, Chevy is already touting that this model should get up to 42 mpg highway. But, like we said, that biodiesel engine isn’t just more fuel-efficient, it’s also more powerful, with a robust 268 lb-ft of torque from this model, and up to 280 lb-ft with a temporary overboost option.
When and Where to Get it
It looks like Chevy will soon be introducing the biodiesel version of the 2013 Chevy Cruze to 13 test markets. These markets are located where the biodiesel B-20 capable Chevy Silverado has already seen a positive response with good sales, so Chevy suspects the same will hold true of the Cruze model with the same capabilities. After this initial test launch, a larger release across much of North America is expected to come out 2 months later. Get ready for the launch of the 2013 Chevy Cruze with biodiesel capabilities at Cox Chevy, the premier Chevy for the Tampa Bay area!
