An Incredible V8 Engine

Whether you opt for the basic LS trim level, the high-end LTZ, or something in between, the Tahoe comes with one engine: a 5.3L V8 with 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque. When properly equipped, the Tahoe can even tow up to 8,600 pounds! While we think that’s plenty for almost every driver, whether they use the Tahoe for work, family, or both, we know some of you may be worried to see those high power and torque numbers, thinking that Chevy’s new SUV is going to be a gas guzzler.

While high power used to be a sign of poor fuel economy, that’s no longer the case when you have a Chevy engine under the hood—the 5.3L V8 gets an EPA-estimated 23 mpg on the highway. If you opt for the all-wheel drive version, you dip down just a bit to 22 mpg on the highway.

Room for the Whole Family

There are not many vehicles that are spacious enough to comfortably seat up to 9 passengers these days, but the Tahoe is certainly one of them. And if you don’t need to fill all the seats, you can always fold down some of them to improve the cargo storage room. If you just fold down the third row of seating, 15.3 cubic feet of cargo space turns into 51.6 cubic feet. If you need more, fold down the second row of seating too and expand up to a max of 116 cubic feet of storage.
