The Redesigned 2015 Chevy Colorado Features Impressive Specs

June 27th, 2014 by

2015 Chevy Colorado SpecsTo get the true measure of a pickup, you have to look past the body design, the cabin features, and the “innovative” powertrain technologies. That’s because pickups are made for work, and the only way to know how much work a truck can really do is to look at the specs. The fully redesigned 2015 Chevy Colorado is an impressive mid-sized truck that delivers the kinds of specs you would expect to find in a much larger work truck.

Powertrain

The new Colorado has two different engine options, both outfitted with high-pressure direct injection and electronic throttle control. The larger V6 engine is able to produce class-leading levels of power. Both engines are powered by a six-speed automatic transmission that has a final drive ratio of 2.92. When properly equipped, the maximum towing capacity of the V6 tops out at a highly capable 7000 pounds, which is in line with many light duty full-size trucks.

  • 2.5L DOHC Four-Cylinder: Puts out 193 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque
  • 3.6L V6 VVT DI: Releases 302 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque

Dimensions

Many customers select a midsized rather than full-sized truck because they don’t need the extra space, or prefer a slightly smaller pickup that is easier to navigate in the city and around town. The 2015 Chevy Colorado strikes a smart balance between being manageably big and functionally small. Three different sizes are available:

  • Extended Cab: – 6-feet 2-inch box with a 3959 pound curb weight
  • Crew Cab: 5-feet 2-inch box with a 4037 pound curb weight
  • Crew Cab: 6-feet 2-inch box with a 4266 pound curb weight

Chassis/Suspension

The 2015 Chevy Colorado has been designed to stand up to the toughest roadway conditions and the hardest kinds of work:

  • Front suspension: 2WD and 4WD: independent coil-over-shock; twin-tube shocks.
  • Rear suspension: solid axle with semi-elliptic two-stage multi-leaf springs; twin-tube shocks.
  • Brakes: power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes with Duralife long-life brake rotors and standard ABS. Hill descent control is available
  • Steering: electrically-assisted power rack-and-pinion steering with variable assist
  • Stability control: standard StabiliTrak electronic stability control including Hill Start Assist
