The 2014 Chevrolet Volt Gets a Price Cut

Sure the Volt is incredibly fuel efficient, but doesn’t it have kind of a high price? Not anymore. Chevy has knocked the price of 2014 Chevrolet Volt models down to an MSRP of $34,995, a generous $5000 off of last year’s price. Prices at Cox Chevy will vary, but will also reflect this cut. This base price doesn’t reflect the federal tax credits that can be obtained by purchasing a Volt, either, with savings that can climb up to $7,500.

New Price, Same Volt

Despite the difference in the price tag, the Volt offers all of the great qualities that have made it one of the most popular vehicles in the hybrid class (the Volt runs off of either electric or gasoline power). Better yet, drivers can charge the Volt’s battery right from their garage. Chevy estimates that on a single charge, the Volt can carry you about 38 miles. Actual performance will vary though due to driving style, temperature, and terrain. After the battery is depleted, the gasoline engine seamlessly kicks in, adding an average additional range of around 250 miles.

Here’s where the savings come in. In most areas, it is significantly cheaper to charge your car with electricity than it is to fill with gasoline to travel the equivalent distance. Since most drivers around Bradenton, Sarasota, and Tampa have a daily commute that falls somewhere into this range. Many Volt drivers find that its months before they ever have to visit the gas station.
