Fresh off its 2008 redesign, the 2009 Malibu irons out the few kinks of the previous model year, making it the top choice for a mid-size sedan. The 2009 model has been named one of Kiplinger’s Best Values in Used Cars for 2012.

With the 2009 model, stability control became standard and Bluetooth was introduced as an option. A six speed automatic transmission was now more readily available, which helped to increase both performance and fuel efficiency. It retains is roomy, well equipped cabin and great handling. Buyers get a choice go two powertrains and four trim levels.

All 2009 Malibu sedans come standard with a 2.4L four-cylinder engine, with four speed automatic transmission standard on the LS and 1LT trims. A six speed automatic comes standard on the 2LT and LTZ, and optional on the 1LT. A 3.6L V6 engine is also available as an option of the 2LT and LTZ models.

The base LS trim of the 2009 Malibue includes full power accessories, air conditioning, Onstar, and satellite radio. The 1LT adds steering wheel mounted audio controls and a chrome exhaust outlet, while the 2LT includes remote start, heated from seats, and a power driver seat. The LTZ features an upgraded stereo system, leather seats, and a power passenger seat.
