Choose a Used Chevy Colorado as Your Next Pickup

2012 Chevrolet ColoradoWhile we know Tampa and Bradenton area drivers are familiar with the Silverado, we don’t want you to forget a used Chevy Colorado is an option when you’re looking for your next pickup. Although the first generation ended in 2012—Chevy is currently working on a new model—they are still great trucks, and we get a few in our used inventory from time to time.

Let’s take a look at what you can expect from this pickup, in addition to the great savings, of course.

The First Generation Colorado (2004 to 2012)

One thing many drivers like about the Colorado is that it has been consistent. Even though it ran for 9 model years, Chevrolet kept one generation of the vehicle, revising it slightly as the need arose. The biggest differences you’ll find across the model years are in the form of trim levels, technology, and whether or not the vehicle is eligible for the GM Certified Pre-Owned program.

The Colorado started off with three trim levels, and it kept them up until 2010, when the midlevel trim went away and left drivers with choice of either the Work Truck or LT until 2012. If you’re looking for technology, like Bluetooth phone connectivity for example, you’ll want to look toward the LT trim across the board, as the lower trims tended to be designed more for the job site. Of course, any Colorado could find a home as a work vehicle, whether it’s the basic Work Truck or the LT.

Engine choices started out as an inline-four or inline-five cylinder with 175 or 220 hp, respectively. By 2009, those engines received some notable power upgrades and a V8 engine capable of 300 hp was available, giving used Colorado drivers plenty of powertrains to choose from.
