To determine eligibility, General Motors will use First Responder ID (ID.me) for firefighters, police, and EMT/paramedics to verify all criteria is met. This is one of few companies accredited by the federal government as a remote identity provider. Once verified, first responders will receive an authorization code for the discount, which they should bring to the dealership, along with a copy of their driver’s license with the license number redacted.
Meanwhile, 911 dispatchers must create an account at www.gmfirstresponderdiscount.com to receive an authorization code. They must bring this code, a copy of their driver’s license with the license number redacted, and documentation of their 911 training and education, or a 911 card that contains the participant’s full name.
