The 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500 vs. the 2014 Nissan Titan
Bradenton and Tampa drivers looking for their next pickup truck have plenty of options, but we think if you want the best for your money, you’ll want a 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500 from Cox Chevrolet. Put simply, the Silverado is one of the most affordable, powerful, and customizable pickups on the market today, and as an light duty truck, it gives drivers much of what they want and more.
But the pickup market is without a doubt one of the largest segments of the auto world, and competition like the 2014 Nissan Titan comes along every once in a while. Is the Titan worth of its name, or will the Silverado stand tall? Let’s take a look.
The first thing that struck us about the 2014 Titan was just how expensive it is. Nissan only has it available in a four-door crew cab model, meaning if you just want a low-cost, high-dependability work truck with a standard cab, you won’t want the Titan. Starting at $32,915, the Titan is hugely priced when compared to the Silverado’s $26,670 (MSRP). That’s a savings of over $6,000.
The fuel economy of the Silverado means you’ll be saving with every second behind the wheel, too. The basic Silverado Work Truck gets an EPA-estimated 24 highway mpg, compared to the Titan’s 18 highway mpg. Sometimes fuel economy differences aren’t that much, but 6 mpg? That’s going to add up quickly.
And then there are the features. You might expect the Silverado to be pretty basic, as we’ve just been looking at the Work Truck trim level, but would you believe that there are a range of options you can add onto Chevy’s pickup that you won’t find on the Titan Crew Cab? Here’s the start of the list of features Chevrolet offers that Nissan doesn’t:
- Destination guidance with turn-by-turn navigation
- HD radio
- Handsfree calling
- Roadside assistance
And then features like iPod connectivity come standard on the Silverado as well. Basically, Chevy gives you more choices, more features, and more savings. We think it’s a pretty clear cut victory.
