Offering drivers in Bradenton and Tampa a winning combination of performance, features, and dependability, the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is a top contender in the full-size pickup truck class. Able to accommodate just about anything you throw at it, the new Chevy Silverado 1500 is also packed full of some of the most advanced tech. Still, it wouldn’t be right if we didn’t match it up against the competition in the 2015 Ford F-150, but after getting a closer look we think it’s clear the Silverado is the winner.

Performance

If you’re in the market for a full-size pickup truck, then performance is bound to be a top priority.  Both of these pickups come with available four-wheel drive (4WD), and while fuel economy is similar in both models, the 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500 beats out the 2015 Ford F-150 in terms of standard and maximum power.

Standard power on the Silverado comes from a composed 4.3L V6 that makes 285 hp and 305 lb-ft of torque. Those looking for even more capabilities can get it from a 5.3L V8 that gets a commanding 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque. Max power comes from a hefty 6.2L V8 that pumps out a robust 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque

Base power on the 2015 Ford F-150, meanwhile, comes from a 3.5L V6 that only makes 282 hp and 253 lb-ft of torque. The 5.0L V8 gets 385 hp and 387 lb-ft of torque, while the maximum combination of power comes from a turbocharged 3.5L V6 that only manages 365 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque.

Advanced Features

As pickup drivers move further into the new century, being connected on the go becomes increasingly important. The 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500 offers more than the 2015 Ford F-150 in terms of high-tech capabilities.

Every version of the Silverado 1500 except the stripped down “Work Truck” gets standard OnStar, the advanced Chevy telematics system with automatic crash notification, roadside and stolen vehicle assistance, and remote door unlocking. Ford only offers a telematics system as a cost-added feature on upper level trims.

Every Silverado 1500 equipped with OnStar also gets portable Wi-Fi technology, allowing streaming of videos on up to seven devices and the ability to use the internet without using up all of your data plan. There’s no Wi-Fi hotspot offered on the 2015 Ford F-150.

Warranties

Get more coverage when you choose the 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500. Standard warranties on the Chevy Silverado 1500 include a three-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper limited warranty, a five-year/100,000-mile powertrain and drivetrain limited warranty, and a five-year/100,000-mile roadside assistance program.

While the 2015 Ford F-150 matches the Silverado 1500 with the same bumper-to-bumper limited warranty, its powertrain and drivetrain warranty is only for five years or 60,000 miles, and the roadside assistance program is only good for five years or 60,000 miles.
