The Chevrolet Colorado recently returned from a long hiatus. In its first year of the second generation, the midsize pickup truck was named the 2015 Motor Trend Truck of the Year. The reason the Colorado stands out from every other pickup on the market is that is offers more power than you would expect from a midsized model while also getting outstanding gas mileage.
The Chevy Colorado has been a hit with drivers who need a rugged all-purpose truck that is also easy to handle and navigate in city environments. Whether for work, recreation, or both, the Colorado is equipped to handle it all.
WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?
The award-winning 2015 Chevrolet Colorado offers two engine options. Choose from a 2.5L four-cylinder that puts out 200 hp and 191 lb-ft of torque while getting up to 20 mpg city and 27 mpg highway, or a 3.6L V6 that puts out 305 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque while still getting up to 26 mpg highway. When properly equipped, the V6 engine can tow up to 7,000 pounds.
A variety of different trim, cab, and bed configurations are available, each with a long list of standard features. OnStar turns the pickup into a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, all trims feature Bluetooth connectivity, and a Work Truck Appearance package boosts the Colorado’s work-ready capabilities even further.
Response to the Chevrolet Colorado has been overwhelmingly positive from critics.
- Edmunds: “The 2015 Chevrolet Colorado is now the most up-to-date and refined midsize pickup truck available. Compared to dated rivals or even as an alternative to full-size trucks, this new Colorado is very appealing.”
- Car and Driver: “The Colorado is Chevy’s first new mid-size pickup in ages, with fresh looks, new tech, and convenience features galore. It’s quieter, more solid feeling, and civilized.”
- The Car Connection: “The 2015 Chevy Colorado asks the question: is not-full-size big enough? For many of us, that’s a “yes.”
The engineers at Chevy understand not to tinker with a winning formula, but the forthcoming 2016 Chevrolet Colorado will receive a few notable upgrades. A turbodiesel 2.8L four-cylinder is expected to be available for the upcoming model that should offer an impressive amount of power while retaining the fuel-efficiency this model is known for. GM has also announced a top-of-the-line trim level and a new eight-speed automatic transmission option. By all accounts, the next Chevrolet Colorado will be the best one yet.
