Overview:
The Chevrolet Traverse crossover utility vehicle combines the smooth ride and responsive handling of a car with the cargo capability and high seating position of a traditional truck-based sport utility vehicle.
The well-equipped interior features two front bucket seats and two different seating configurations for the second and third row seats, accommodating a maximum of eight passengers. An efficient, direct injection 3.6-liter V6 engine is mated with a six-speed automatic transmission. The Traverse comes in three trim levels: the LS, the LT and the LTZ. Each trim is available in front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. An extensive list of safety features come standard; these include: side curtain overhead airbags, seat-mounted side-impact airbags for driver and front-seat passenger, anti-lock brakes, and electronic traction and stability control.
The Traverse carries-on for 2011 with minimal changes.
Reviews:
Traverse enters its third model year with minor changes. Heated cloth seats are now available on LT models. The stereo's USB port is relocated to the upper instrument panel storage bin for easier access. Two new paint colors are White Diamond Tri-Coat and Steel Green Metallic. At this point in its product cycle, moderate sticker price discounts should be common.
The familiar horizontally split grille identifies this as the Chevrolet among GM Lambda crossovers. The body features soft, rounded edges, a deep contrast to the boxy Ford Flex, which may explain the Chevy's greater popularity.
Thanks to its long overall length and minivan-like packaging, the third row offers decent leg- and headroom. The seven-passenger model features second-row captain's chairs and an eight-passenger model's second row has a 60/40-split bench seat.
